Income tax return filing in Modasa

An income tax return is more than a form: it ties together your income, the tax already deducted and the deductions you are entitled to. PATEL & CO. prepares and files income tax returns for individuals, professionals, firms and businesses in Modasa and Aravalli district.

What the work involves

  • Working out which return form applies to your sources of income.
  • Checking your figures against Form 26AS and the Annual Information Statement (AIS) shown on the income tax portal.
  • Computing income and tax, including the deductions you are eligible to claim.
  • Filing the return on the portal and completing e-verification.
  • Revised returns, where a correction is needed and permitted, and checking the processing status afterwards.

Who needs it

  • Salaried individuals.
  • Landlords and others with rental income.
  • Professionals and small business owners, including those who compute income on a presumptive basis where they are eligible.
  • People with capital gains from shares, mutual funds or property.
  • Partnership firms and companies, which file annually.
  • Anyone who needs a filed return as proof of income, for example for a loan application.

Documents commonly needed

  • PAN and Aadhaar, and bank account details for any refund.
  • Form 16 or salary details, for employees.
  • Form 26AS and the Annual Information Statement from the portal.
  • Interest certificates from banks, fixed deposits or the post office.
  • Details of house property: rent received, municipal tax paid, home loan interest certificate.
  • Statements for capital gains on shares, mutual funds or property.
  • Records of investments and payments for which you wish to claim deductions.
  • For business or professional income: books of account or income and expense records, and GST data where relevant.

Things to keep in mind

  • Which form applies depends on who you are and the kinds of income you have. The Income Tax Department publishes the criteria for each form (see the official links below).
  • Due dates differ by category of taxpayer and are announced by the department; they can be extended. We work from the dates published on incometax.gov.in.
  • Information in your AIS may differ from your own records. Differences need to be understood and, where necessary, corrected or explained before filing.

Frequently asked questions

Which ITR form should I use?

It depends on whether you are an individual, HUF, firm or company, and on the kinds of income you have. The department's own guidance sets out who may use each form; we apply it to your details and confirm the form before preparing the return.

Do I have to file if my employer has already deducted tax?

Whether you must file depends on your income and other conditions set by law, not only on whether tax was deducted. We can check this for you, and filing can also be useful even where it is not compulsory, for example to claim a refund.

What if I find a mistake after filing?

In many cases a revised return can be filed within the time the law allows. Tell us what needs correcting and we will check whether it is possible.
